I'm hosting this specific fundraising event for ALS United Greater New York, in honor of my husband, James Griffin, who passed away after a 4 year battle with ALS January 21, 2026.  I'm going to take a Artic Plunge into the frozen Fairview Lake in Stillwater, NJ on February 1, 2026.  Funds raised will support other individuals and families affected by ALS because I'm kinda crazy and because I loved my husband.

Skipping the usual boilerplate about what ALS is and how awful its progress is for those with it and those that love them, I simply want to continue to help.  Help find a cure for those yet to be diagnosed, help support the local organizations that provide so much assistance to patients and their loved ones, help support a special camp that has been central to Jim, my and all of our kids lives and to demonstrate how much everyone loved Jim.

When I took the Arctic Plunge into Fairview Lake 2 years ago the ice was so thick that the emergency workers standing by in their wet suits were actually sitting on an ice ledge with their feet dangling in the water.  In addition to raising funds for ALS United of Greater New York, I will be matching up to $1500 in a donation to Fairview Lake YMCA Camp's Annual Campaign which funds scholarships to all of the programs the camp holds all year.
