Susan's Journey
This is my third year participating in the fundraising walk to defeat ALS. This year the walk is taking place September 21, 2024 at Eisenhower Park, East Meadow Long Island.
The fundraising at ALS United Greater New York receives through this extraordinary event plays a vital role in supporting me another ALS patients and their families facing the daily challenges that ALS presents
The walk to defeat ALS that only raises funds to support, at no charge, those living with ALS, but funds research programs working on treatments of this devastating disease. I keep my spirts high that these efforts will find treatments to stop my progression and ultimately a cure.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehring disease is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk , speak, swallow and breathe. Life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause cure.
This is why I’m again walking to change this a statistics and bring hope to those living with this disease. The ultimate goal is that no one ever hears the words you have a ALS again.
The past three years continue to bring advancements in ALS research, expanding access to care people living with ALS, enabling legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.
But we can’t stop now. I am one of those living with ALS and hope the momentum and support is near.
Please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, we will can make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
Thank You
