This year, Team Raia will be fundraising for its 24th Long Island Walk - now called "Walk ALS" - on September 21st at Eisenhower Park. In 2023, Team Raia raised nearly $8,000; bringing our total raised to over $333,000. We could not have done this without YOUR generous support!

The past few years have brought such tremendous advances in both science and medicine, and it has been incredible to watch, knowing that WE have ALL played a small part! In the past 8 years, 2 new drugs have been brought to market, after the first and only treatment was approved back in 1995. There are also many pharmaceutical and biotech companies with ALS treatments in the early stages of their pipeline, which makes the future of ALS much brighter. These strides that have been made show a positive trajectory towards better and more effective treatments, and ultimately a cure for ALS.

ALS United Greater NY serves more than 1,200 people with ALS each year. They partner with top medical institutions at 10 different locations in the tri-state area. These multidisciplinary clinics provide vital care to patients, and support that is crucial to quality of life for those living with ALS, their caregivers, and family members. The Chapter also provides transportation assistance, equipment loans, support groups, patient grants, and around-the-clock support from nurses, social workers and assistive technology specialists.
