Riding4Romano. Fight ALS.
This year, I ride in the TD Five Boro Bike Ride with Team ALS, driven by a cause that has touched my life profoundly. My father, Dr. Jose Romano, battled bravely against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) until his passing on July 29, 2021. This ride is for him, for every family facing ALS, and for the hope of a future without this disease.
ALS, often known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a relentless adversary. It attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to loss of muscle control and, ultimately, the ability to speak, eat, move, and even breathe. Every 90 minutes, a new battle begins for someone diagnosed with ALS, and another ends, often without a known cause or cure.
Your donation, big or small, propels us forward, funding vital research and support services. Together, we can honor those we've lost, support those who battle, and fuel the journey towards a cure.
Funds raised support the ALS United Greater New York, providing essential resources and services to those affected, fueling research for new treatments, and inching us closer to a cure.
My father pursued a career in medicine and always believed in the power of community, helping other and kindness. Please share this page with friends, family, or anyone who believes in a world free from ALS.
Thank you for your support.
