China's Baskets of Hope
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I'm participating in ALS United Greater New York’s Walk ALS to raise funds that will support individuals and families affected by ALS.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, although it is primarily an adult-onset disease. Currently there is no known cause or cure.
As many of you know, in 2023, my Aunt China was diagnosed with ALS. What we initially thought was just a lingering side effect of COVID-19 turned out to be something far more devastating. This diagnosis has not only changed China’s life, but it has also had a profound impact on everyone around her.
If you’ve had the privilege of knowing China, you know she is one of the most caring, selfless people. She has always put others before herself and has shown up for family and friends, treating them like family. Her love for basketball and sports runs deep, and I thought a team name like "China's Baskets of Hope" would perfectly represent her spirit and strength.
We invite you to join us for a walk to support China, raise awareness for ALS, and continue to bring hope and strength to her during this challenging time. Let’s walk together to honor her incredible journey and show her just how much she’s loved.
Please feel free to send this page to any friend or family member who might be interested in walking and/or donating! She is not aware that we are doing this on her behalf so please do not ruin it by telling her.
Thank you.
