My Personal Walk ALS Page

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I'm participating in ALS United Greater New York’s Walk ALS to raise funds that will support individuals and families affected by ALS.
I rewrote some of the template content, because we all know what ALS is. The "Ice Bucket Challenge" made sure that even those that only knew it as "Lou Gehrig" disease learned about ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis if you want to sound smart). But I wasn't aware how quickly ALS moves and that the life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. It's a totally unfair disease that can strike anyone regardless of age or gender (or other characteristics).
Currently there is no known cause of, or cure for ALS. There isn't even a good treatment that exists! The Ice Bucket Challenge helped awareness, but didn't finding treatments is expensive and takes a long time.
I feel somewhat helpless watching a friend and her family go through this torture. So, I, along with Stacey and group of other friends, are doing this walk as a way to fundraise for those living with ALS and also continue to draw attention. Please consider supporting my efforts by donating through my fundraising page.
Your donation today will help fund resources and services to the ALS community, help find new ALS treatments, and move us closer to a world without the disease.
Please feel free to send this page to any friend or family member who might be interested in donating!
Thank you. Dan
