Team Eddie
Welcome to Team Eddie!
We lost our family member, Eduard Kurkin, to ALS in May 2021 after a devastating battle. ALS is a horrible illness that no one should ever have to experience or witness.
Unfortunately, Eduard is not our family's only ALS Hero. His father, uncle, and sister also passed away from ALS – they had the familial type of ALS.
Eduard asked me to fight to find a cure so that no one else in our family, especially his beloved daughter Bethany (in the picture on this page), ends up with ALS. So, until a cure is found, we will be participating in the Walk ALS.
You can help us find a cure by joining our team in the Walk ALS, or you can choose a team member from the list and donate that way.
Thank you for your support!
What is ALS?
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, although it is primarily an adult-onset disease. Currently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need.
