My Personal Walk ALS Page
Welcome to Craig's Page for ALS United Shore Walk 2025
My wife, Mindy Hoppe succumbed to ALS in 2022. During her illness, ALS United of Greater NY stood with her and me during our whole ALS journey and was invaluable in so many ways. They provided information about ALS and what to expect, guidance about changes to our home that were necessary, suggestions and counseling about the equipment we would need for Mindy, loan us necessary equipment at a moment's notice, and provide education and support through monthly support group meetings. Together with the support of ALS United, Mindy and Craig’s faith in God and His son, Jesus sustained them throughout the challenges that each day brought during their challenging journey.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. Currently there are no effective medications or cures for this disease.
These are the reasons why I am walking in the ALS Jersey Shore Walk on Saturday, September 13 at 9 am along the Promenade in Long Branch NJ. This walk ensures that there is a caring, loving organization like ALS United of Greater NY to stand together with families affected by an ALS diagnosis of a loved one.
Please consider walking with Team Mindy or sponsoring one of the team. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by Lou Gehrig's disease. Thank you so very much and have a great day!
Warmly, Craig
