Pavan Bahl's - FCK ALS Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I'm raising funds that will support individuals and families affected by ALS. What motivated me to fundraise for this cause?
My closest childhood friend is Eric. Over the course of 30 years, we?ve become part of one another?s family. We were so lucky to have grown up with influences from two solid families with different cultures and vibrant traditions.
We recently lost Eric?s father to ALS. A man that I have always described, and will remember as The Most Interesting Man in The World (just like the old school Dos Equis commercials). He had an outstanding zest for life. His penchant for discovery is hard to match. An unbelievable listener and educator. He was well read, and held a sincere sense of duty to pass along his wisdom in a uniquely uplifting way. Never disparaging, always supportive. He saw the best in everyone, and brought out the best in them.
Rich had so much more to give, so much more to live for, and ALS took that away from all of us. Gone too soon, but will be remembered dearly for generations. Stories of Rich are those that get passed down.
ALS is so f*cked. A disease that gradually deteriorates your muscles. What starts off as an occasional fall, ends up in complete paralysis. Movement goes, speech goes, communication goes, then organs go. All whilst your mind is fully sharp and able to process everything. ALS doesn?t only take movement, it strips away dignity and traps one in their own self. I wouldn?t wish this prison on anyone.
I will continue to figure out different ways in which I can help raise awareness and resources to help families of ALS patients, and institutions funding ALS research. For the meantime, I?ve joined Eric?s fundraising team for ALS United. On September 20th, we ask all of our family and friends to join us at Walk ALS which will take place at Eisenhower Park in Nassau County, Long Island. We want this to be their biggest turnout ever.
A few simple ways in which you can support:
- Register to walk with us on Sep 20 in East Meadow, Long Island! ????
- Skip a coffee this week and instead send a donation of $5 towards our fundraising goal.
Your donation today will help fund resources and services to the local ALS community, help find new ALS treatments, and move us closer to a world without the disease.
With love,
