Walk ALS Long Island: Kristina Testani - ALS United Greater New York

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I'm participating in ALS United Greater New York’s Walk ALS to raise funds that will support individuals and families affected by ALS.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, although it is primarily an adult-onset disease. Currently there is no known cause or cure.

In case you're wondering, I'm walking for my Uncle Tony, and here's why:

Uncle Tony had a smile that could light up a room. He was known for helping EVERYONE, without question or hesitation. He loved his wife and children unconditionally, and lived a life where giving to others was his greatest joy. What ALS did to his body was heartbreaking...yet his fighting spirit remained. I walk for him, and all those like him, who contribute to this world each day, and whose families are devastated by the deterioration and loss of their loved one.
