Walk ALS Hudson Valley
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I am walking in the ALS United Greater New York's Walk in support of my Uncle Steve who has been courageously battling ALS for several years now. While I am away from my family while I am at school, walking to bring awareness about and fundraise for efforts to find a cure for ALS is the least I can do. ALS United Greater New York's Walk participants will be gathering together to support someone they know affected by this tragic illness, so I wanted to share a little bit about what the illness is:
?Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, although it is primarily an adult-onset disease. Currently there is no known cause or cure.
