I am running the 2025 New York City Marathon with Team ALS to support those affected by ALS, spread awareness of our cause, and fight for a cure. My maternal grandfather died from ALS, and in the two decades since, research on the cause and cure for this awful disease have advanced -- but we're not there yet.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a progressive disease of the nervous system that affects cells in the brain and spinal cord. Ninety percent of ALS cases occur without any known family history or genetic cause. Presently, there is no known cure for this disease.
By partnering with ALS United Greater New York, all the funds I raise will go toward where it's needed most: vital research, community support, and patient services. Three years ago, we raised more than $6,000 dollars for research and family services. There's more work to be done.
