My name is Luca Hart, and I am running the New York City Marathon in November to raise money for the fight against ALS. My grandfather Fernando battled ALS for six years before it ultimately took his life, before I was born. Though I never got the chance to meet him, I grew up hearing stories about how ALS deeply affected not just my grandfather and our family, but families around the world. 

Running the NYC Marathon and raising money for ALS United is my way of honoring my grandfather’s legacy and supporting families like mine who have experienced the devastating toll of this disease. Every dollar counts and goes toward crucial research and support for those impacted by ALS.

I’m running to help make a difference, to bring hope to those fighting ALS, and to ensure that children around the world don't have to grow up without a loved one due to ALS. Your support would mean the world to me — and to so many others still battling ALS.

​Mi nombre es Luca Hart y voy a correr la Maratón de Nueva York en noviembre para recaudar plata para la Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica. Mi abuelo Fernando peleó contra la ELA durante siete años, antes de que yo naciera. Aunque nunca tuve la oportunidad de conocerlo, crecí escuchando historias sobre cómo esta enfermedad afectó no solo a mi abuelo y nuestra familia, sino también a otras en todo el mundo. 

Correr la Maratón de Nueva York y recaudar fondos para la fundación ALS United es mi manera de honrar a mi abuelo y de apoyar a familias como la mÍa que han vivido de cerca el impacto de esta enfermedad. Cada dólar cuenta y se destinará a la investigación y a ayudar a quienes la están atravesando.

Corro para llevar esperanza a quienes enfrentan la ELA, y para que nadie tenga que vivir sin un ser querido a causa de esta enfermedad. Tu ayuda significa mucho para mí y para la comunidad ELA.
