Walk ALS New York City

Team Karle

Welcome to the Team Karle Walk ALS page!

We walk for Stuart Karle and all those impacted by this devastating disease — which takes a terrible toll as it progressively destroys motor neurons throughout the body. In the year since Stuart was first diagnosed, ALS has continued its destructive march through his body, but he has not lost his spirit and his ability to find joy in each day. He continues to show up for his family, friends, colleagues and clients in all the most important ways.  He is also participating in clinical research in the hope of finding effective treatments.

We walk for ALS United, which has provided incredible support since Stuart’s diagnosis. From the start, ALS United has been a source of information about the disease and how best to adapt, connections with others facing these challenges, free equipment through their loan closet, care giver recommendations, home visits from the nurse and social worker, and accessibility advice for home modifications.  It’s a rough disease, but they make people feel they are not alone.

The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis and the disease can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity. Currently there is no known cure for the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need.

Please consider joining our team for Walk ALS or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause. Or stop by the Team Karle Flower Table where bouquets will be available for purchase — all contributions to be donated to ALS United.

Thank you for your support!
