Movin' for Matteo
Welcome to the Movin for Matteo team page!
We are participating in ALS United Greater New York’s Walk ALS as Movin for Matteo, walking and fundraising in loving memory of Matteo Sciacca — a devoted father, husband, brother, uncle, and grandpa who bravely fought ALS and lost his battle with this devastating disease. We walk to honor his life, his strength, and the love he shared with everyone around him.
Our team is raising funds to support people in our local community living with ALS and to spread awareness about this heartbreaking illness.
Please consider joining Movin for Matteo at Walk ALS, or select a team member from the list and donate to support our cause.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, and is primarily an adult-onset disease. Currently, there is no known cause or cure. The financial burden is also significant, costing families an average of $250,000 per year to provide the care their loved ones need.
Help us continue Movin for Matteo and push a cure for ALS over the finish line by donating today. Together, we can honor Matteo’s memory and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by ALS.
Thank you for your support.
