Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I’m participating in ALS United Greater New York’s Walk ALS in memory of my dad, who lost his life to ALS when I was 18 years old.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs a person of their ability to walk, speak, swallow, and eventually breathe. The average life expectancy after diagnosis is only 2–5 years, and currently, there is no cure.

For me, ALS is much more than the name of a disease. It is something that changed my family and my life forever. I had to watch my dad lose abilities that most of us never think twice about, and ultimately I had to say goodbye to him at an age when I still needed so much more time with him.

I walk because I wish my dad had been given more time. I walk for the milestones he should have been here for, the memories we should still be making, and for every family that has had to experience the heartbreak of ALS.

By participating in Walk ALS, I hope to honor my dad’s memory while helping support people and families currently living with ALS and funding the research needed to find better treatments and, one day, a cure.
