Strides For Susan
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, I will once again be participating in Walk ALS Jersey Shore. I’m doing everything I can to support individuals and families affected by ALS and help make an impact locally. Most importantly, I walk in honor of my beautiful mother, Susan Cento.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, although its primarily an adult-onset disease. Currently there is no known cause or cure.
I will forever advocate, educate, and continue helping others understand this disease while fighting for hope and a cure. That is why I am walking again this year — to help change the statistics, to bring hope and support to those living with ALS, and to honor my mom: my hero, my heart, and my best friend. If you were lucky enough to know her, you know she was one of the kindest, most generous, and genuine people you could ever meet.
Please consider joining my team, Strides for Susan, by walking with us or sponsoring our team. Every donation, every share, and every show of support truly makes a difference for families facing this devastating disease.
Your donation today will help fund resources and services to the local ALS community, help find new ALS treatments, and move us closer to a world without the disease.
Please feel free to send this page to any friend or family member who might be interested in donating!
Thank you - Lisa Zita
