Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. 

I’m walking for ALS in memory of my father-in-law, Emanuele Schembari, who recently passed away. ❤

He was so much more than a father-in-law to me—he was like a father, someone I loved deeply and was blessed to have in my life for so many years. He was diagnosed with ALS only a short time before his passing, and we were heartbroken that he did not have more time with us after receiving the diagnosis. Watching what ALS took from such a strong and special man is something I will never forget.

I’m walking alongside his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, and our entire family. Together, we walk to honor his life, his strength, and his memory. We walk for him, for all of us who loved him, and for everyone affected by this terrible disease.

This walk is for you, Papa. We love you, We miss you, and we will carry you with us every step of the way. ❤
