Running NYC to Fight ALS
I remember September 2021, when I got the call from my dad, Ben, and my stepmom, Suzanne, sharing that my dad had been diagnosed with ALS after 18 months of searching for answers. Eighteen months, because ALS is diagnosed by ruling everything else out. There is no definitive test for ALS, a disease that is often swift and merciless. Around that same time, progress in ALS research was beginning to accelerate. My dad was able to access experimental drugs and participate in medical trials, giving him access to something ALS does not often offer: hope. And we were able to get something else that isn’t common: time.
Over the past five years, time has become infinitely more precious. Every hug, every phone call, every milestone is an incredible blessing and one that I do not take for granted. I have watched my family rally together, and I could not be more proud of my dad, my family, and our incredible support system. I am running the New York City Marathon with Team ALS in my family's honor, to help raise awareness for everyone affected by ALS, and hopefully help others access critical treatments and more time with their loved ones.
Your donation will go directly to ALS United Greater New York to fund critical research, provide community support, and deliver essential patient services.
Thank you so much for your support and donations! If you cannot donate, share with your friends and community. Now let's get some miles in!
