My Personal Walk ALS Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. For the 5th year in a row I am participating and leading my team, Caroline's Crew in the ALS United Greater New York’s Walk ALS to raise funds that will support individuals and families affected by ALS.
As many of you know that my PopPop, Richard Gundy, was diagnosed with ALS in March 2019. His rapid decline from March to July was difficult to witness. A once vibrant, talkative man quickly became unable to communicate or live his daily life without the assistance of a full time caregiver.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, although it is primarily an adult-onset disease. Currently there is no known cause or cure.
Being a part of ALS United Greater New York’s WALK ALS is the number one way to unite and fundraise for those living with ALS.
Your donation today will help fund resources and services to the local ALS community, help find new ALS treatments, and move us closer to a world without the disease. Over the last 4 years, Caroline's Crew has raised over $8,000! I know my PopPop would be immensely proud of my involvement within the ALS community.
Please feel free to send this page to any friend or family member who might be interested in donating or joining my team on Sunday, June 9th at Saddle River County Park. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!
With love,
Caroline
