Howard and I are walking to support our friend Layne Oliff in his goal to defeat ALS.   Here is a message from Ann & Layne that tells his story: 

Thank you for helping us reach our Walk (and Roll) to Defeat ALS fundraising goal! The Walk to Defeat ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.

 
Diagnosed in 2020 but with symptoms going back to 2012, Layne is working hard to fight this disease physically, mentally, and through his advocacy work. ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the ability to move, speak and eventually breathe. Its trajectory is different for all, but the end result is the same. Prior to this Layne was a very active runner, cyclist, hiker, etc. Now he is rolling in a wheelchair and having speech issues.

That's why we are walking and rolling. The money raised will help those needing care, funding research, and funding advocacy efforts. 

 

The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families. We must keep the momentum going and propel it further.
