ABOUT WALK ALS

For more than 30 years, ALS United Greater New York has worked tirelessly to ensure every person affected by ALS can access the support they need as we come together to find new treatments and a cure for ALS.

Walk ALS serves as the flagship fundraising event for ALS United Greater New York. It is a one-day celebration that includes families, caregivers, friends, colleagues, and advocates who support the fight to end ALS. Walk ALS prides itself on the community it builds and the relationships it fosters at these events.

Because of generous contributions from people like you, our organization can offer truly extraordinary patient care, second to none. Every person knows that their reach is far beyond the miles they walk. It extends to all ALS families, friends, and colleagues. Every dollar donated means more care service programs, research, and progress toward a cure.

FUNDRAISING INCENTIVES

The Walk ALS experience highlights the value and power our ALS community has when we come together for a common goal: to End ALS. We have created special incentives to show our appreciation for your support. These benefits are awarded to individuals, not teams or donors, so make sure the donations to your personal fundraising record add up!

  • Raise $100 -- receive a Walk ALS t-shirt.
  • Raise $500 -- receive a foldaway tote and Walk ALS t-shirt
  • Raise $1,500 -- receive a tumbler, foldaway tote and Walk ALS t-shirt.
  • Raise $2,500 -- receive an umbrella, tumbler, foldaway tote and Walk ALS t-shirt.
  • Raise $5,000 -- receive a canvas tote, umbrella, tumbler, foldaway tote and Walk ALS t-shirt.

Team Fundraising Incentive: A personalized “Why We Walk” sign will be awarded to the Team Captains of those teams that have raised $1,500 or more one week prior to the walk. The sign will feature the name of the person you are walking for AND a custom photo. After reaching this fundraising milestone, the Walk ALS Coordinator will contact the team captain for information about the photo selection and the name for the sign.

*This award is for Walk ALS teams. Teams that raise over $1,500 will receive their sign on Walk Day. There will be a limit of one sign per team.

UNITED TO END ALS

Although each participant has a unique story that brings them to Walk ALS, their motivation is the same - to end ALS for someone they love, for their friend, or so that no one else has to suffer through this disease. Walk ALS will allow you to see firsthand how your support makes a difference in the lives of people with ALS, and how it gets us closer to our ultimate goal of ending ALS.

During the Walk, stop by the "WHY WE WALK" tent to write a message on our colored circles the best represents why you are supporting Walk ALS to be displayed for all to see throughout the day.

Walk United - Yellow represents someone living with ALS and those who advocate for ALS research, care, and caregiver support.
Walk in Honor - Blue represents those who love or support a person living with ALS.
Walk in Memory - Orange represents those who honor the memory of someone who lived with ALS.
