WHY EMILY WALKS
My father, Adam, was diagnosed with ALS on Friday, September 13, 2019. Over the year and a half that he suffered, he continued to be brave, and fight through each and every day, despite knowing the all-too-well fate of his diagnosis. Even with the advancements in technology that have been made to this point, he began to lose his ability to communicate, breathe, walk, and talk, but there was one thing that never wavered; His attitude and smile were brighter than ever.
It was my father's fearlessness during the most daunting of times that inspired me to stand up and fight the battle against ALS. When I eventually learned about WALK ALS, I was honored to fundraise and participate as part of this community. Seeing the masses of folks come together on walk day is inspiring, and moving beyond words - I will not stop advocating and sharing my father's experience with this disease, until the day in which we live in a world free of ALS.
