Walk ALS New York City

Herb's Hustlers

A life of service, adventure, and harmony defined Herbert "Herb" Hipp's journey. From serving in the U.S. Navy to building a 32-year career with IBM's International Division, Herb embraced challenges and opportunities that took him and his family across continents – from South Africa to South America to Australia. His professional accomplishments were matched only by his dedication to community service, whether counseling through S.C.O.R.E., serving on the Bowling Green State University Alumni Board, or lifting spirits through song in both the St. Michael Parish choir and Lake Plains Barbershop Chorus.

In 2009, we lost Herb to ALS, a devastating disease that gradually removes one's ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. Though ALS took Herb from us, it could not diminish the legacy of love he built across his 52 years of marriage to his beloved wife Betty, his role as father to Ann Jane, Stephanie, Michael, and Thomas, or his joy as grandfather to ten cherished grandchildren.

Herb's Hustlers walks to honor Herb's memory and support families currently facing ALS. Your contribution to ALS United Greater New York will provide vital resources to local families and fund crucial research toward a cure. Join us in walking or support a team member with a donation.

Together, we can work toward a world where no family has to hear the words "You have ALS."

In loving memory of Herbert R. Hipp (1934-2009)
